Established in 1999, the Reno Vein Clinic was the first west of the Mississippi to perform Radiofrequency Closure, which made vein stripping obsolete. Various procedures are done, but all through tiny incisions under local anesthetic. There is minimal pain and most people can return to regular activities in a few days!
Now with 30 years experience in general, vein and skin surgery, Thomas McCrorey, MD, joined the Reno Vein Clinic in Spring 2020.
Growing up, Dr. McCrorey lived all over the country as a “military brat”, but has family around the Reno/ Tahoe region. He attended Douglas High School in Minden for part of his schooling. Eventually he joined the military himself. After serving three years in combat positions for the US Army, Dr. McCrorey earned his Doctor of Medicine from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his Residency in General Surgery in 1998. He served much of his medical career in the Army. He is board certified in General Surgery including Vein Disorders. After completing surgical residency, Dr. McCrorey has additional training and experience in state of the art vein procedures, ultrasound, cosmetic and medical skin care. In his general surgical practice, Dr. McCrorey provided surgical care and medical leadership at sea, in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as multiple military and civilian hospitals.
After practicing and teaching surgery for almost 20 years, Dr. McCrorey returned to northern Nevada in 2011 to be closer to family. He earned additional certification in Quality Assurance and for several years, helped the state of Nevada improve quality health care for underserved Nevadans. He focuses his clinical practice on minimally invasive Vein Care and Skin Surgery. He became the owner of Reno Vein Clinic in Fall 2020. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UNR School of Medicine. He continues to serve the state and country as a doctor in the Nevada Air National Guard.
