Radiofrequency Closure
The revolutionary FDA-approved Closure procedure has had exceptional results throughout the country, as it is minimally invasive.
The skin on the inside of the thigh is injected with xylocaine, and then a thin radiofrequency catheter is fed into the vein. This highly sophisticated catheter then delivers energy to the inside of the vein, and is slowly withdrawn. The catheter has temperature sensors on it, which is monitored during the procedure. This ensures that the vein is getting the exact amount of heat to close the vein permanently.
The patient is back to near normal activities the next day. Sclerotherapy is often needed to close off the smaller varicose veins that remain after the procedure.
